The San Diego Dream: Is this Real Life?

Picture this: Your alarm goes off, and you wake up. When you step outside, you realize that it’s the perfect day. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, there’s not a cloud in the sky, and it’s 70-something degrees out. Beautiful, towering palm trees line the road, swaying slowly in the slight breeze. The air is fresh, and you can see the ocean in the distance, beyond the city buildings. People in the street are generally pretty happy, because it’s a gorgeous day, so they are friendly to you as they pass by. There is an abundance of taco shops at every turn, and the smell of corn tortillas fills the air. Life is pretty good, you think to yourself.

The next day your alarm goes off once more and you wake up. You walk outside, and it’s the perfect day, again. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, and there’s not a cloud in sight; it’s about 70 degrees. The ocean is nearby, the smell of fresh tacos fills the air, the palm trees sway in the breeze, and people are friendly to you. You have to stop to pinch yourself. Am I dreaming? Is this real life? No, it’s not a dream. Yes, this is real life. This is your life now. You live in San Diego. Welcome to endless summer!
