About the Program

The Q International School & IEM Volunteer and Internship Program connects local youth and U.S.-based students with international learners. Through classroom support and rich cultural programming, participants help ESL students thrive while developing leadership, cross-cultural communication, and mentoring skills.

  • Enhance English learning through interactive peer engagement

  • Gain mentorship with weekly check-ins and reflections
  • Support ESL instruction and extracurricular activities

  • Earn a Certificate of Completion and performance-based Letter of Recommendation

Eligibility: U.S – based, 18+
Location: 1770 Fourth Ave, San Diego
Outcome: Certificate + Letter of Recommendation

Pre-High Track

Dates: Jul 14 – Aug 15
Focus: Conversation practice, transitions, and student activities
Outcome: Mentorship experience & observation credit

IEM + Q School Cultural (Year-Round)

Roles: Language Partner, Cultural Ambassador, Peer Mentor
Commitment: 1-2 half-day shifts / week
Scope: Classroom support, cultural events, excursions
Outcome: Certificates, mentorship pathways, recommendations

*Volunteer activities are 1-2 a week after class or weekend for 2-3 hours. Sometimes we have seasonal events volunteer work for the weekend as well.
